“You’re welcome, please come in !” … seems to whisper the noiseless and majestic slow opening andalusian iron gate when you are approaching to this unique property coming out of the National Reserve Park; and when you have passed through it closes again ‘to protect you against the wilderness’ just left behind you ...
… and in this moment you have entered into a paradise …!!! This Garden is really a dream !!! Created over visible (!) rustic rocky areas and relatively shallow areas with good garden soil on the lower end you’ll find big Pine trees, Cypresses, Olives, Stone Oak trees, Mimosas, Eucalyptus, 2 meters high Agarves, Geraniums, Bogainvilleas, roses, ‘Elefant ears’ and low creeping plants with lovely red flowers all year around …
Luxuriant growth all over and you’ll be thinking: “Here must be lots of water and for sure that’s a lot of work …!” – No, actually it’s a ‘dry’ garden with mostly native plants and trees which do not need mayor maintenance. Nevertheless: Everything is green and in colourful flowers …
We are right at the boundary of that ‘pure nature’ Sierra Almijara & Sierra Tejeda National Reserve Park high on a south facing ridge in this marvellous hinterland of our Axarquia, overlooking the Competa – Sayalonga – Canillas de Albaida valleys providing incredible views all the way down to the Mediterranean Sea and at clear evenings you even can see the Rif mountains in Morocco - unbelievable!
From the ample granite stone topped entrance and parking area at one side there is a spacey Garage, partly open like a car port and then into the other directions it connects the main house with the guest cottage. The property is totally fenced in; there is another inner section (just house and garden) additionally separated by a barely visible grown in fence. So you can have the parking area or the guest part open but the main house and swimming pool area shut.
The main Cortijo – a character home:
There exists a cosy but ample Cortijo of about 256m2 constructed area. Parts of it could be some hundred years old, the old wine press, the grain threshing area. Partly built on two levels it still stands on its original foundations and with most of its authentic old and up to 70cm thick walls. Meanwhile it’s got a new but typical Moorish old style roof with antique tiles, the visible old heavy wooden beams (existing already before in this same roof) supporting the inclined ceiling which one gives the feeling of cosiness under the lower parts combined with the pleasant free feeling of the high and open space in the centre.
The room distribution is like as in a typical andalusian open plan cortijo: The 52m2 big lounge/diner centred in the middle of the construction, connected by a wide open access to a study/library (24m2) on the left and a really ample (14m2, as you’ll like it) open plan kitchen to the right.
A little pathway opposite to the open main entrance hall leads into the rear part with three bedrooms and two bathrooms as well as some storage areas.
A flight of stairs is gracefully sweeping up onto the higher part of the house overlooking the old roofs in different heights, angles and orientations and further around the gardens.
Here we are in a good sized, open and bright master bedroom of 26m2 with an ensuite bathroom (full bath + hydromassage shower) behind. Windows in all directions to open the access for the light thermic breeze all day and night; here you don’t need any air condition!
Well, the windows: Most of them are double (inside the cosy old style wooden ones and additionally in front of these outside another wooden design aluminium sliding window).
In the lounge in an almost centrally located corner there is a massive Chimney with a big glass door in front and an active working fan blower double chamber system to use it really for heating; here in our lovely Axarquia you'll find lots of fire wood very easy. Additionally – to have a constant ground temperature in the house all over the winter period – the lounge is fitted with an Underfloor heating system; the ensuite bath has a nice natural marble heating panel, the other rooms can be warmed up with moveable radiator units (you just take those out of the storage room when you should need them, but that’s really very seldom!).
Above the roof you’ll see three chimneys: One for the fireplace, one for the kitchen extractor and one prepared just in spare if one likes to have another wood burner in the library …
Some outhouse extensions have been grown up during the past: A workshop (easy to be converted into another bedroom), a little wine storage house, a sunny dog kennel, cosy and well sheltered against the wind and midst in the sunterrace a tiny little rustic pump house ...
The main entrance terrace is covered with wooden beams and rain protected, partly just grown over by climbing Passion flowers and wild grapevines. Above another ample terracotta terrace there is a huge old fig tree giving shade to a nice cosy sitting/dining area below (at night time mysteriously illuminated out of its leafy canopy). Several other niches are inviting you to withdraw yourself – reading an exciting book or just enjoying a good glass of local wine, ... Some of those are free and open and sunny, others nicely sheltered under old olive trees. Then there is the authentic grain threshing area on the highest point on the ridge with the best views into the natural park area in the back, presently used as the early-morning-sun breakfast location. Sun all day and for every hour another place to sit and relax and to enjoy those incredible sea and mountain views from all over … !!!
Well, and then there is the Swimming pool, built in an unique irregularly shape, tiled with warm coloured green mosaic inside and granite stone topped surroundings, covered with strong timber beams to grow climbing vine, the sweet smelling jasmine or a purple bougainvillea over it to give some shade whilst you are swimming … This pool is surrounded on one side by rustic ‘grown’ rocks and a huge pine tree staying with its feet in the National Park already, but with the branches giving shade to our pool. The south facing side is built as an ‘infinity pool’ – the water is flooding over the edge (no view spoiling walls) and whilst you are swimming it opens your view into the pine tree woods, vineyards and even down to the Mediterranean sea – you’ll fall in love with this, guaranteed !!! Absolute privacy, nobody can overlook this area, nobody can bother you as just five meters behind there is the Natural Reserve Park already. Invisible behind the pool a concreted platform has been prepared - just in case - if you might like to have a solar heating system installed one day.
Under the main terrace (which is on pillars) you’ll find a powerful Sauna with its relaxing space directly aside, bordered just by free nature, old Olives, yellow flowered Mimosa and high Eucalyptus trees as well as huge Agaves.
Then there exists another little Guest Cortijo (about 31m2 totally independent, a good sized apartment with a combined lounge/bedroom and a bathroom) on a slightly higher level of the property with its own sunbath terrace, a roof covered relaxing area, own parking spot and individual access through another separate property gate/entrance) and old trees around … An absolutely private site for your guests or family – it’s nice to have them with you, but sometimes it’s good as well to have them in their own refuge - with stunning views into the mountainous surroundings, overlooking the pine tree woods, the vineyards and the Mediterranean sea at a distance …
That is a matter of course that the property is connected to mains electricity (3 phase) and city water supply; nevertheless there are as well two huge water storage tanks of about 40.000 liters reserve, just in case …
And as well the house is fitted with satellite TV dish; telephone and internet are working excellent via broadband.
In total presently there exists a constructed area of about 335m2 incl. the sauna area (terraces not counted).

The airport of Malaga can be reached in less than an hour, the beaches of Torre del Mar as well as Velez-Malaga, a huge shopping mall and supermarket centres are just 30 minutes away.

The access to this property leads up from the coast on good tarmac roads into the Sierra Tejeda, almost up to 800 meters height above sea level. There is just a little bit more than one kilometer of track left - really good and drivable with any kind of car – into the National Reserve Park and to the property.

The property comes with full Title deeds(escritura) for both land and constructions; all buildings are legally inscribed in the Land Registry and in the Cadastro.
